Why hard: Combining real-time voice, live streaming and in-app purchases in an 18+ community app requires careful engineering, testing and store compliance.
About the Brand
ChillChat is an 18+ live social community on Google Play, built around voice rooms, group chat and party games. The app positions itself as a place where users can jump into gaming party rooms, play together and socialise, alongside live streaming for creators sharing gameplay or talents. It also includes gifting, enabling users to send themed gifts to creators and participants. With 5M+ downloads and a large review base on Google Play, the product targets users looking for lightweight entertainment, social interaction and community-led live content, supported by in-app purchases.
The Challenge
ChillChat needed a complete Android build that could reliably support real-time social features—voice rooms, group chat and live streaming—alongside party-game sessions. As an 18+ community app with in-app purchases, the release also had to meet Google Play policy and store readiness requirements, including clear user flows, stable performance at scale, and a listing that accurately reflected features such as gaming party rooms, live streaming and gifting. With only the Play listing as the public touchpoint, the app experience and store presence had to do most of the heavy lifting.
Our Solution
- Built the Android app end-to-end, aligned to the Play listing feature set
- Implemented voice room experiences with moderation-ready room and user controls
- Delivered party-game room flows for joining, playing together and re-engaging users
- Integrated live streaming capabilities for creators to broadcast gameplay and talent sessions
- Added gifting and in-app purchase flows with clear prompts and confirmation states
- Hardened release process: QA, crash monitoring, store compliance and staged rollouts
- Optimised Google Play listing copy and metadata to reflect core features accurately
Improved stability across releases, with fewer crash and ANR regressions reported post-launch
Higher app-store clarity: better alignment between listing promises and in-app journeys
Smoother onboarding into voice rooms and game rooms, supporting stronger early-session engagement
